Music production is usually concerned with recorded music. Musicians at some stage in their careers are likely to want good, commercially viable recordings of their material.
A music producer has many roles. He or she is the person employed to make sure the song is interpreted in an appropriate, creative and commercial way in accordance with the artist’s wishes.
The Producer will advise as to how the track should sound, what additional instrumentation could be added to enhance it. He or she may also advise on song structure, chord sequence and lyrical content.
The Producer should have a wide experience of writing, arranging, recording and interpreting music across many different genres and he or she should be prepared to utilise those skills with artists’ recordings.
Generally he or she is in charge of making sure the resulting music track is of the highest quality.
